Episode 36
Habakkuk 3:5-6 | His Ways Are Eternal
He stood. He looked. Those are the two verbs doing the damage in this one. He holds still, he looks at something, and the ground gives out.
Plague and pestilence are in the retinue, walking in front of him and coming along behind, which is ancient poetry about a king on the move rather than a claim that every hard thing got sent on purpose. Then Habakkuk reaches for the two things in a landscape people use as shorthand for permanent. The hills. Ancient and age-old, and in the verse, crumbled. Out of everything standing there, the hills go and his ways stay. Whatever you have been treating as the permanent feature of your ministry is the hill in this verse, and his work does not need it upright to proceed.
Anchored in Habakkuk 3:5-6. Part of The Waiting Season, a verse-by-verse walk through Habakkuk for worship leaders and the whole team.
