Episode 35
Habakkuk 3:3-4 | Where His Power Is Hidden
Teman and Mount Paran are both south. Edom, Sinai country, the dry ground where the law got handed down. When Habakkuk wants to say God moved, he gives you a direction and two place names.
He is pointing at old ground. He is not asking God for something he has never done, he is naming a place where God has already been and asking him to come from there again. Look at the verb. Came from. That is motion with a starting point in it. Then his splendor is like the sunrise, which does not so much arrive as get there before you can point at the moment it started. And rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden. The light is the leak. If you have been measuring God by what showed up on a Sunday, you counted the rays.
Anchored in Habakkuk 3:3-4. Part of The Waiting Season, a verse-by-verse walk through Habakkuk for worship leaders and the whole team.
